Mathematical Discourse: A Pathway to Deeper Understanding

Log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

This presentation will delve into the importance of fostering a classroom environment where students engage in meaningful mathematical conversations, justify their reasoning, and critique the reasoning of others. We will explore practical strategies for implementing the Close Reading in Math routine, which encourages students to analyze mathematical texts, discuss their interpretations, and make connections to their problem-solving processes. By incorporating this routine into our instruction, we aim to deepen students' conceptual understanding and promote collaborative problem-solving skills. Participants will leave the presentation with actionable insights and resources to effectively facilitate mathematical discourse in their own classrooms.
